New Castro Valley Park Named 'Valley View Park'

Open House to be Held Wednesday to learn more about recreation plans.

The Redwood Filtration Plant has a new name: Valley View Park.

The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District voted to rename the former East Bay MUD property at a recent meeting.

According to Board President Paul Hodges, “We felt the name was the perfect fit because of the magnificent views that can be seen from the site and its location in Castro Valley.”

In 2014 the District acquired the 24-acre parcel from the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) for $5.6 million. This year the Master Plan process began to receive input from the community regarding future development of the site.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Castro Valley Community Center (18988 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley), the District will sponsor an “Open House” where the community can view a variety of concepts that incorporate suggestions made at prior community meetings.
