No Injuries In Hayward Officer Involved Shooting

A police chase from Hayward to Oakland resulted in one arrest.

HAYWARD, CA — Hayward police apprehended one suspect after an officer-involved shooting early Tuesday morning, but at least one more remains at large and is presumed to be armed.

Police responded initially at 12:45 a.m. to a call in the 2500 block of West Winton Avenue, where officers opened fire.

Police closed the roadway at the scene of the shooting for about 12 hours as they conducted their investigation.

At least one suspect fled the scene and as of mid-morning a search was still ongoing in the area of Bancroft Avenue and Link Street in Oakland.

Police said around 2:30 p.m. that the active portion of their suspect search had concluded without apprehension, but investigators continue to follow up on leads.

No officers were injured in the shooting, and neither was the suspect they apprehended. As of Tuesday afternoon, police believed that the remaining suspect at large was also uninjured.
