Ohlone Volleyball Shakes Off Injuries And Keeps Winning
Renegades sweep two conference foes as they build toward the playoffs

Fresh off back-to-back wins in the Coast-South, the gallant Ohlone College women's volleyball team keeps shaking off injuries and moving toward its goals.
The sharp Renegades will travel to newcomer Las Positas Wednesday and then will host very tough Foothill on Friday.
Last week, the Renegades swept Canada-Redwood City 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-15) and San Jose 3-0 (25-8-25-13, 25-12).
After the San Jose match, Ohlone coach Jeremy Penaflor spoke of the team’s continued “great serving.”
"I was even more pleased by our servers because of the pace of our serve combined with our consistency,” Penaflor stated. “It didn't look as if our athletes were just swinging for the fences, which tended to be the case in some past matches. I think that was pretty much the highlight of the night.”
Ohlone, which has endured more than its share of aches and pains, played without sophomore libero Malia Silva due to a hamstring injury, and it possibly lost freshmen outside hitter Kayla Valencia to a knee injury.
“Just add to the ever-growing list!” Penaflor declared. “But considering our injury situation I'm very pleased that we could make it through the first half of conference play with a 5-1 record. I'm looking forward to the home stretch, and hopefully we can keep it together for what we hope is a strong push for a playoff berth.”
Hailey Amaral had a big match against San Jose with eight aces, seven kills and five digs. Maggie Del Grande shared the team lead in aces with eight. Elena Webster led in digs with nine to go with three
assists. Raychelle Rebosura-Castillo led in assists (14) to go with 3 digs. Cameron French led in hitting percentage (.556). Photo by Donald Jedlovec
