Multiple Crashes On I-580 Snarling Traffic
An earlier sig-alert has been lifted, but traffic is backed up for miles.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — An overturned big rig on westbound I-580 in Castro Valley has been cleared, according to the CHP, which cancelled an earlier sig-alert.
The roadway re-opened around 8:30 a.m. The crash initially closed all westbound lanes of the highway. It was
reported at 4:43 a.m. Three vehicles were involved in the crash, according to Officer Tyler Hahn of the CHP. The incident is still under investigation, but it appears that there was a lane change in which the vehicles somehow clipped each other, Hahn said. Two people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, Hahn
said.
But that was just the start of traffic nightmares in Castro Valley and further east. A series of crashes, in Castro Valley, Dublin and Livermore, had traffic crawling from Castro Valley all the way to Livermore.
