Palomares Road Reopens To Cars, Pedestrians, Bikes
The mountain road has been closed since heavy rains caused mudslides last winter.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Palomares Road has reopened to cars, pedestrians and bicyclists, county officials said. The busy road has been closed at mile marker 8.70 for several months after the heavy rains. Officials said the Alameda County Public Works Agency removed debris and performed slope stabilization, installation of netting along the hillside, embankment erosion repairs, roadway surface repairs, and resurfacing and striping the travel lanes.
Residents on either side of the closure had access to their homes but motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians were asked to avoid the area during the repairs.
