Recycle Your Old Batteries

Now that spring is here, many of us will be working to declutter our homes. If you plan on having a spring cleaning, make sure you know how to properly recycle any old batteries you might find laying around.

For Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) residents, dry-cell batteries – AAA, AA, B, C, D, 9V, and small “button” batteries – can be placed in a sealed heavy-duty plastic bag on top of your blue recycling cart and set out for curbside pick-up.

Liquid batteries, such as automobile batteries, and lithium-ion batteries are not accepted for curbside pick-up. Please bring these batteries to any Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Facility. For locations and hours, visit www.CVSan.org/HHW.
