Recycling Buyback Closure and Alternate Locations

The California Redemption Value (CRV) recycling buyback center operated by RePlanet and located in Castro Valley, behind Lucky Supermarket at 3443 Castro Valley Boulevard, has closed. RePlanet ceased operations at 284 sites throughout California in August, citing a reduction in state fees, depressed pricing of recycled aluminum and PET plastic, and a rise in operating costs as causes.

Residents of Castro Valley can redeem their CRV aluminum, plastic, and glass at several different locations in the area or they may put these items in their curbside recycling container.
