Repairs Underway On Storm-Damaged Redwood Road At Lake Chabot

Heavy winter storms that saturated the ground for months undermined the road.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Construction is underway on Redwood Road near Lake Chabot where an 80 foot stretch of road failed during winter rains. Repairs are expected to be finished in January 2018.

Damage was first noticed in February, and the road was closed altogether at the end of March. It is closed to all traffic including bicycles and pedestrians.

According to the Alameda County Public Works Agency, "Work being performed includes excavating and re-compacting the roadway sub-base and installing steel piles and tie-back anchors to support the reconstructed roadway."
