Small Earthquake Rattles Castro Valley

Did you feel it? The earthquake hit Monday afternoon and was felt across a wide swath of the East Bay, San Francisco and the Peninsula.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — A magnitude 2.7 earthquake was centered in the Castro Valley Monday afternoon. It hit at 3:28 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There have been no reports of damage or injuries.

Hundreds of people reported feeling it in Castro Valley, Hayward, San Lorenzo, San Leandro and Oakland. A bit further away, people in Concord, Moraga, Alameda, San Francisco and Belmont also reported the movement.
