
OAKLAND, CA — The Golden State Warriors announced that they're giving $1.25 million in grants to 51 organizations who are working to improve educational equity in Alameda and San Francisco counties.
"As the Bay's team, supporting the community we live and play in is one of our highest priorities," Warriors Owner and CEO Joe Lacob said in a statement.
"We are committed to helping close the achievement gap for disadvantaged youth in the Bay Area and are fortunate to be in a position to help," Lacob said in a statement.

During the first quarter break in the Warriors' game against Portland Saturday night, Warriors Community Foundation board president Nicole Curran and Community Foundation Executive Director Jose Gordon presented a ceremonial check to Oakland Public Education Fund Executive Director Brian Stanley and San Francisco Unified School District Deputy Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero.

The Warriors said the grants will support a range of programs and organizations, including investments in early childhood development, elementary literacy, middle schools, STEM, and college access and persistence.

"Social responsibility is a hallmark of good business and an integral part of our culture," Warriors Community Foundation Executive Director Jose Gordon said.
"By supporting efforts to improve access and opportunity for underserved students, we believe we can do our part to make a difference, he said.
The grants will be made to 23 organizations that operate in Alameda County, 18 that serve San Francisco County and 10 that offer programming in both areas.
