President Donald Trump Blames Haters For Oscars Flub

The Oscars Best Picture gaffe wouldn't have happened if the show weren't so focused on politics, said President Trump.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — For a moment during Sunday’s Academy Awards, it seemed like everyone was sharing the crowded stage when the Oscar for Best Picture was erroneously given out to “La La Land” and then to the crew of “Moonlight.” One person not on the stage was President Donald Trump, but he might as well have been, because that bizarre moment was all about him, he explained Monday.

Hollywood liberals were so busy bashing him, they lost sight of the big prize, Trump explained to Breitbart, a news site formerly run by his chief strategist.

“I think they were focused so hard on politics that they didn’t get the act together at the end,” Trump told the site. “It was a little sad. It took away from the glamour of the Oscars. It didn’t feel like a very glamorous evening. I’ve been to the Oscars. There was something very special missing, and then to end that way was sad.”

As he has been all award season, Trump was the butt of jokes and barbed speeches at the 89th Academy Awards Sunday.

Host Jimmy Kimmel wasted no time in before mocking Trump in his opening Monologue.

“As you know, the country is divided right now. I have been getting a lot of advice, people saying ‘you need to unite us.’ Let’s get something straight: I can’t do that." Kimmel said.

“I want to say thank you to President Trump. I mean remember when last year it seemed like the Oscars were racist," joked Kimmel. "That’s gone thanks to him.”

Trump, known for tweeting about television ratings, may not be surprised that Sunday’s Oscars garnered the second lowest ratings of every show since 1974. Viewership for the Oscars was 32.9 million, about 1.5 million viewers than last year’s Academy Awards, according to Nielsen.
