Whiz Kid: Marymount Senior Makes All-CIF Team

Michelle Folan, senior Co-Captain of the Marymount High School Varsity Girls Basketball team, was named to the All-CIF SS Division 4A team, it was announced last week.
Folan has also been named to the All-Sunshine League Team each of her four years on varsity. Folan is the all-time leading scorer in Marymount history, racking up a total of over 1,280 points for her high school career, with 512 of those points scored during her senior season. Folan has averaged 18.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, with a game-high personal best of 32 points this season against Marlborough, and was named to the All-Tournament teams for both the Palisades and West Coast Holiday Festival Tournaments in December 2010.

Folan is also a four-year letter winner in golf and a three-year letter winner in track and field. For golf she was named to the 2010 Daily News All-Area Golf Team, served as the 2010 co-captain, was the 2009 Mission League MVP and a two-time All-Mission League Team recipient, and advanced to the CIF golf equivalent of state semi-finals by playing in the 2010 CIF/WSCGA Southern California Championship. She has a handicap of 2.1.
For Track and Field, Folan placed in CIF Sunshine League finals in shot put and discus in 2009 and 2010. She was a CIF sectional qualifier for shot put in 2009. She also participates in the long jump and high jump events.
