Deputy from Cerritos Doing Well After Marrow Transplant
"Thank you everybody for ALL that you have done to give my love and best friend of 19 years a second chance," said Sgt. Jorge Chavez's wife.

CERRITOS, CA – A sergeant at the sheriff's Cerritos Station who was diagnosed with leukemia has received a bone marrow transplant and is doing well today, authorities said.
Sgt. Jorge Chavez received the transplant on Thursday, according a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Facebook post.
In January, the sheriff's department announced that Chavez had been diagnosed with leukemia and needed the life-saving transplant, and a fundraiser and bone marrow drive were held that month at the Cerritos station.
