OC Coroner: Cerritos College Police Chief Committed Suicide

The chief of the Cerritos College Campus Police Department committed suicide, according to a report published tonight.

Richard “Buk” Bukowiecki, 47, was found dead from a gunshot wound in a room in a Super 8 motel in the 15000 block of Beach Boulevard in Westminster about 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing information from the Orange County coroner’s office.

College President Linda Lacy told the newspaper that “we do not know and may not ever know the reason” for Bukowiecki’s suicide.

Bukowiecki lived in Huntington Beach. He went to work as a part-time dispatcher with the college police department in 1988, The Times reported.
