The collector next door

Many people collect things...I never got into that too much, having a small house and no where to put anything.  I've always liked going to garage sales and estate sales.  I'd pick up little knick knacks for next to nothing and they would easily fit into my home.  Some people would ask me what I collected when I went to sales and I'd say "Oh, nothing in particular".  But one day I was at a garage sale in Bellflower and a lady had some religious articles out.  There was a framed picture of Mary with baby Jesus and it caught my eye, so I bought it.  When I took it home I was compelled to open up the frame an beneath the picture were several prayer cards and funeral cards.  I was so happy with this treasure I had found and it was pretty much then that I decided that I would collect religious articles from these sales and bring them to my home.  That was probably about 5 or 6 years ago...my collection has grown a lot since then.  I collect mostly holy cards since they are small and do not take up a lot of space.  I also have collected many statues of Jesus, Mary and the saints.  My husband began to refer to them, endearingly, as my action figures...thus the name if this blog.
