Woman Hospitalized Following Shooting In Cerritos

The woman was in a car when she was shot, according to reports from the scene.

CERRITOS-ARTESIA, CA – A woman was hospitalized Wednesday after a shooting in Cerritos that left her with a non-life threatening wound.

Deputies responded to an assault-with-a-deadly-weapon call about 1:30 a.m. near Shoemaker Avenue and the Artesia (91) Freeway and located the victim with a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, according to Sgt. William Madison of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Cerritos Station.

The woman was in a vehicle when she was shot, according to reports from the scene, and was then taken to a hospital for treatment.

No suspect description was immediately available, Madison said, and it's unclear if the shooting happened on the freeway or a city street.
