• Prominent real estate mogul buys vacant Auburn Boulevard property (citrusheightssentinel.com) — A long-vacant former Smart & Final building on Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights has been bought by Ethan Conrad Properties, with plans to remodel the exterior and refresh the site. The sale follows new streetscape upgrades, a "Welcome to Citrus Heights" archway, and other tenants like FunCity and a planned E-bike outlet that are helping revive the Citrus Grove Shopping Center corridor.
• Greenbelt behind local library catches fire twice in one day (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Two separate fires broke out about 12 hours apart in the greenbelt behind Sylvan Oaks Library and Crosswoods Community Park in Citrus Heights, scorching about half an acre but sparing nearby homes and buildings. Police first discovered an unoccupied homeless camp just before the morning blaze and later ruled out encampment activity in the smaller nighttime fire; investigators still don't know what caused either incident.
• Sacramento's Sports Boom Raises Big Questions About Growth and Investment (iheart.com) — Citrus Heights is being floated as a possible site for a new regional sports complex, part of a broader Sacramento-area push for stadiums and arenas that could total billions in investment. Local leaders are weighing whether the region can sustain so many projects and how a new state law allowing property-tax-based financing might help pay for them.
