I am a former student from Global Youth Charter which is located in the Sacramento area in Antelope California. The reason for this blog is due to the major concern I, as well as multiple individuals have pertaining to the High School's sports program. As of last week, the principal, Doug Hughey has officially removed Global Youth from the CIF and is planning to have the students participate in rec leagues as a alternative. The student athletes, in addition to parents who are aware of the situation, are fighting to be reinstated into the CIF however, the principal is pushing back. With the removal of the program students have expressed their discontent, feeling that playing in rec leagues removes from the high school opportunity to represent their school. For the past seven years, since Global Youth's sports program inception, it has produced a plethora of successful individuals, post High School. If we are unable to get reinstated to the CIF due to the principals refusal to due so, I, as well as a number of parents, are concerned that this will result in a slippery slope effect in regards to student drive. We are asking, if in any form or manner, you would be able to support our cause or provide helpful notes in preserving a program that has universally developed many students. Thank you for your time.
