Want to help out at Sylvan Oaks Library? Let us show you the ropes!
Teens between the ages 14-17 are required to undergo training before volunteering at the library. Trainings are held on the first Saturday of every month. Those attending the training will get 2 logged volunteer hours. We request no less than a 6-week commitment of at least one hour per week, not to exceed 2 hours a day, Tuesday-Saturday. May 16 is Food Revolution Day! To celebrate, kids’ cooking classes are taking place across the city. Cooking is one of the best ways to inspire kids to eat their veggies! With the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation & California Food Literacy Center, join others around the globe on this special day--all of us cooking a tasty Rainbow Salad Wrap stuffed with fresh veggies, mint and feta cheese. Little kids will get to measure and stir. Big kids will learn to safely chop or even use a box grater. We'll read D.W. the Picky Eater by Marc Brown.

Want to earn some volunteer credit between June 1 and August 31? Become a Summer Reading Ambassador for Sylvan Oaks Library. This is a specialized teen volunteer duty that involves signing participants up for the program, assisting with self-service on catalog computers, and helping them complete the tasks to achieve their Summer Reading goals. If you are interested in helping with the Summer Reading program, please attend this special training session.
