Citrus Heights Water District General Manager Announces Retirement (citrusheightsmessenger.com) — Citrus Heights residents will soon see a leadership change at their water provider, as longtime Citrus Heights Water District General Manager Hilary Straus retires Sept. 30 after more than 20 years serving the community. The board planned to appoint an acting general manager at its Sept. 22 meeting, while the district continues supplying water to over 70,000 customers in Citrus Heights and nearby neighborhoods.
   

2. Vehicle slams into elementary school fence in Citrus Heights, one arrested (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Families near Grand Oaks Elementary in Citrus Heights woke up Wednesday to find a large section of the school's fence missing after a solo vehicle crash around 9 p.m. the night before. Police say the driver, who was uninjured, was arrested on suspicion of DUI with a blood alcohol level about three times the legal limit, and the damaged fence is now being repaired.
   

3. Gov. Newsom signs bill on regional housing and homelessness policy (fox40.com) — Citrus Heights is set to join Sacramento, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova and Folsom in a new regional joint powers authority focused on housing and homelessness, under a bill just signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. The measure aims to coordinate decisions and responsibilities across cities and nonprofits, with the new structure expected to take effect by January 1, 2028.
   

4. Rep. Kiley demands Sacramento TV station stop airing 'Duck' ad tying him to Trump (mercedsunstar.com) — Residents of Citrus Heights are squarely in the newly redrawn 6th Congressional District, where Rep. Kevin Kiley is demanding a Sacramento TV station pull an attack ad linking him to Donald Trump. The dispute highlights how both Kiley and challenger Richard Pan are battling over Trump ties and political independence in a district that stretches from Roseville through Citrus Heights to West Sacramento.
