Recall of Amy's Kitchen Products: Possible Listeria

Amy’s Kitchen, Inc. of Petaluma is voluntarily recalling approximately 73,897 cases of products sold nationwide and in Canada due to a possible Listeria contamination in the spinach.

This recall of such products as vegetable lasagna, brown rice and vegetable bowls and tofu breakfast wraps is based on a recall notice from one of Amy’s organic spinach suppliers.

Amy’s may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women, the agency said.

The recall is voluntary, and no illness complaints to date are related to the recalled products.

Consumers who have any of the products identified in the chart here are urged to dispose them or return them to the store where purchased for an exchange or full refund. Consumers may also call Amy’s at (707) 781-7535 with questions.
