State Assembly Candidate Doug Haaland Participates in the Sacramento Regional Water Storage Forum

Doug Haaland, candidate for State Assembly in the 8th District, was a guest speaker at the Sacramento Regional Water Storage Forum this past Friday in which he was able to share his experience dealing with water issues in California.

“After more than a decade serving members of the California Legislature as a chief consultant on water issues, I am keenly aware of the dire situation our state and my district faces when it comes to providing an adequate water supply," said Haaland. "As much as I might already know about water issues in California, it is important to hear what experts in the water field have to say about pathways forward that will allow our state to navigate the dry years and reap the benefits of wet years."

Doug Haaland is a retired chief consultant after serving 20 years working in the State Legislature. Much of his expertise helped shape the most significant water policies in California in more than 40 years, as well as assisting in the writing of the 2009 water bond and proposals.

"It’s truly unfortunate that our own Assemblyman is off enjoying the whitewater rafting of our region’s rivers for fundraising purposes rather than focusing his time on making sure people in this district, and who are dependent on Folsom Lake, don’t watch it turn into a dust bowl. Our state is facing a huge water shortage and time is running short to craft solutions that will preserve this most precious resource for future generations."
