2. LASD Deputy Shoots and Kills Knife-Wielding Theft Suspect in Claremont (memesita.com) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy fatally shot a theft suspect in a Claremont gas station parking lot Monday morning after the man allegedly charged with a large kitchen knife. The confrontation near S. Indian Hill Boulevard and American Avenue shut down the busy commercial corridor for hours as investigators collected evidence and reviewed surveillance footage.
3. Regals Reverse Swept in Home Opener (cluecho.com) — California Lutheran's Regals volleyball team will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., giving Claremont fans a chance to see their local program in SCIAC play. The Regals are coming off a tough reverse-sweep loss in their home opener, but players say they're channeling the experience and the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational's pediatric cancer cause into renewed focus for conference action.

These Are The Top IL Colleges In 2027 U.S. News Rankings (patch.com) — New U.S. News rankings place Claremont McKenna College and Pomona College, both in Claremont in a tie for third among national liberal arts colleges. The report explains major methodology changes, including new earnings-based metrics, which may shift how students and families in Claremont weigh prestige, value, and outcomes when considering local and out-of-state schools.
