Antonovich to Call for Supervisors to Support Immigration Bill

The 5th District supervisor will present a motion at Tuesday's meeting.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich announced today he will present a motion at Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting calling for the board's support of the immigration legislation proposed by a bipartisan group of senators.

Antonovich's 5th District includes LaVerne.

"This legislation is a comprehensive approach to immigration reform which includes a guest worker program, greater border security and enhanced coordination of federal and local law enforcement," Antonovich said.

The motion calling for a five-signature letter in support of the senators' proposal be sent to the county's congressional delegation also asks that the proposal include a trained Border Patrol reserve component patterned after law enforcement reserve programs and requests the county's Washington lobbyists and the CEO's office report back to the board monthly on the progress of immigration legislation.
