
The Pomona College Band will premiere In This Breath by Shuying Li, alongside works by Scott Joplin, Gustav Holst, Roger Nixon, Alfred Reed, Matyas Seiber, and John Philip Sousa.
One of the oldest college bands in the country, the Pomona College Band was founded in 1909. Led by emeritus professor Graydon Beeks, the band’s membership is drawn from students, faculty, and staff of The Claremont Colleges and members of the local community. Its goal is to prepare significant music in a collaborative atmosphere for performance at the highest level. They present two sets of concerts each academic year.
