Claremont Burglars Nabbed Due To Observant Neighbor
An observant neighbor stopped a burglary, helped nab the crooks, cops say.

CLAREMONT, CA — A string of Radcliffe Drive burglaries was thwarted by an observant neighbor, police say.
"On Monday, two residential burglary suspects were caught by Claremont police due to a tip from an observant neighbor. At around 11 a.m., the neighbor saw a suspicious vehicle driving up and down Radcliffe Drive," Claremont Police Department Information Officer Sergeant David De Metz said.
Little did the neighbor know that two homes had been burglarized in the 300 block of Radcliffe Drive earlier that morning.

"The neighbor described the vehicle as a white 1990’s Chevy or GMC, possibly a Blazer or Jimmy model, with yellow paper plates," De Metz said. "The driver, a female Hispanic in her 30’s or 40’s, stopped briefly and spoke with the neighbor."
The female asked the neighbor where “La Canada Street” was located. There is no La Canada Street in Claremont, De Metz said.

At about 9 p.m., a Claremont Police Officer saw a white GMC Jimmy with yellow paper plates in the area of Indian Hill Boulevard and Foothill Boulevard.
A traffic stop was conducted and two subjects were detained, one of them being the female driver from earlier on Radcliffe Drive. Stolen property from the burglaries was located inside the vehicle.
Further investigation led Officers to a motel room in Claremont where large amounts of jewelry, currency, and drug paraphernalia were found, including additional stolen property from the burglaries.
Lorissa Lockwood, 31-years-old from Redlands, and James Griffin, 26-years-old from San Bernardino, were arrested on multiple charges; including, burglary, possession of stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lockwood also had a warrant for her arrest for theft out of San Bernardino County. Lockwood’s bail is set at $150,000.00. Griffin’s bail is set at $50,000.00. They are scheduled to be arraigned in Pomona Superior Court on Wednesday, May 17th.
"These arrests were a direct result of an observant neighbor," De Metz said.
