Claremont, La Verne Schools Pass the Test in Statewide Rankings

Almost every CUSD school and at least two La Verne schools reached a California state target in a 2011 round of testing.

The California Department of Education released its 2011 Base Academic Performance Index last week, which records school performances in statewide testing.

Claremont Unified School Distirct schools performed well on the tests, with every school except for two reaching the state's target score of 800. 

Most CUSD schools also scored well in two other categories that compare them to similar schools throughout the state.

Schools taking the API testing recieve scores between 200 and 1000 that chart their performance levels. The state's target for 2011 was 800.

CUSD schools averaged an 835 score, just above the state's target.

Condit Elementary recieved the highest score in the district at 925. Claremont High School passed with an 826.

Several La Verne schools also performed well in the testing, with La Verne Heights Elementary receiving an 894 and Bonita High School receiving an 847.

The API scores below are . They are shown below under '2011 Base API' and will be used to set goals for next year's test scores.

The statewide rank compares schools of similar sizes on their academic performance on a scale of 1 to 10. The number marks the percentage of statewide schools the ranked school surpassed, i.e. a score of "10" would mean the school outperformed 100 percent of other schools.

The similar schools rank is a similar ranking between schools that have comparable demographics in terms of race, percent of low-income and percent of English language learners.
