Claremont Police Search for Arson Suspect

A small fire was ignited near Oak Park Cemetery late Monday. Now police are looking for two people spotted running from the scene.

Claremont Police are looking for witnesses who may have seen who was near a vacant field where a fire was started late Monday.

The small blaze was reported 8:15 p.m. The brush fire was ignited in a vacant field just north of Oak Park Cemetery, 410 Sycamore Ave.

Crews from Los Angeles County and Montclair Fire Department responded and had the fire in about 20 minutes. Roughly a 1/3 of an acre burned, officials said.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. Officials said two juveniles were seen running from the field seconds after the fire started.

The Claremont Police Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s arson investigation team are currently investigating the fire, officials said.
