Five Chaffey schools receive highest accreditation

Five high schools within the Chaffey Joint Union High School District were notified this week they have been granted six-year accreditation – the maximum level – by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Prior to a WASC visit, schools engage in a rigorous self-study and complete an in-depth report documenting their strengths, areas of improvement, and plan of action for further improvement. The WASC team, consisting of educators with no affiliation to the schools being studied, then visits the schools during a 3½-day period and verifies that the information submitted accurately describes the educational practices at the school. After a careful study of the self-study reports and visits that validated the many laudable aspects of the schools, Alta Loma High School, Colony High School, Los Osos High School, Montclair High School, and Ontario High School all have been granted the prestigious six-year accreditation. “This is a great honor for the five schools and for our district as a whole,” said Mathew Holton, superintendent of the Chaffey district. “It validates the remarkable work that goes on in our schools day in and day out and reflects the unbending commitment of our faculty, staff, administration and students.”
