La Verne Chamber Urges You To Vote For Jobs

The La Verne Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, acting upon recommendations from its Public Policy Committee, considered all the statewide ballot measures facing Californians on November 3, 2020. After discussion and deliberation, the Board took supporting or opposing positions on some measures and chose to take no position on others. "These ballot measures are important issues that may have a lasting impact for many Chamber members and the business community at large," said Luis Centina, Public Policy Committee Chair, La Verne Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber respectfully submits its recommended positions for each of the business-related propositions:

Proposition 15: Constitutional Amendment to lift Proposition 13 protections on commercial and industrial property OPPOSE

Proposition 21: Removes statewide constraint on local governments enacting rent control.: OPPOSE

Proposition 22: Allows App-basted transportation and delivery drivers to continue classifying their drivers/delivery people as independent contractors: SUPPORT

Proposition 23: Authorizes new regulations of kidney dialysis clinics: OPPOSE

Propositions 14,16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24 and 25: No Position

It is important to note that not all initiatives have direct relevance to the business interest of the Chamber and that of its membership, thus some have been deemed No Position.
