La Verne Honors Local Veterens with Dedication of Memorial
In 2012, the city and local veterans groups dedicated the completion of the first phase of a veteran's memorial. On Monday, they celebrate the completion of the second phase.
A year after celebrating the completion of La Verne’s Veterans Memorial’s first phase, the committee in charge of the project will dedicate Phase II.
The event will be part of a Memorial Day commemoration ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. May 27, at Veterans Hall, 1550 Bonita Ave. at the Corner of Bonita and Wheeler avenues.
“Our ceremony will include the dedication of the granite obelisk engraved with the names of La Verne veterans who gave their lives while serving our country,” committee members wrote in an announcement of the event. “We will also pay tribute to all members of the military past and present; 570 granite pavers have been purchased in their honor.”
To purchase a memorial paver or make a donation toward the memorial call (909) 596-8700 or visit the project’s website.
Last year the San Dimas/La Verne VFW Post 12034 Band of Brothers welcomed more than 700 during that dedication.
