The city will consider contracting with the YWCA to provide the meals.

La Verne’s City Council on Monday will consider contracting with YWCA to provide seniors with hot lunches.

The 2012-13 Senior Hot Lunch program through the YWCA would feed up to 40 seniors at the La Verne Senior Center, according to a staff report.

In February, the council allocated more than $114,600 in federal Community Development Block Grant program funds for street repair and for the hot lunch program, according to an Ontario Daily Bulletin report.

“Any time we can use grant money, in this case federal grant money, for benefits to the city we are going to do that,” La Verne Mayor Don Kendrick in a quote published by the Bulletin.
