Man Killed On Interstate 10 is Identified

The coroner's office has released the name of the motorcyclist killed when he was struck by a pickup truck and then a car on the Interstate 10 Freeway in Pomona.

He was Devin Lyle Cortina, 19, of Apple Valley, said Lt. Joe Bale with the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.

A motorcyclist, now identified as Cortina, was standing in the No. 2 lane of the westbound San Bernardino Freeway at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, after his vehicle became disabled, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Charles Perez.

"The motorcyclist dismounted his motorcycle and while standing in the No. 2 lane, was struck by an approaching Toyota pickup truck," Perez said. "The collision threw the motorcyclist into the No. 3 lane where he was struck again by an approaching Hyundai Sonata. The motorcyclist came to rest in the No. 2 lane and was later pronounced dead at the scene," he said.

A 2002 Mazda 626 and 2003 Honda Civic collided while avoiding the downed motorcyclist, but are still considered parties in the collision, Perez said.
