A woman reported missing from Glendora by her mother turned up later at a crash site on the 60 Freeway in Industry, telling cops she stole the vehicle she subsequently crashed.
Victoria Guzman, 18, of Whittier was booked into the county jail on suspicion of felony auto theft and felony vandalism, following her arrest at the 60 Freeway, near Crossroads Parkway, Glendora police Lt. James De Mond told Patch over the phone.
Guzman admitted taking a vehicle from Glendora Hyundai at 1253 S. Lone Hill Ave.
Investigators who went to the dealership found a chain link fence broken, leading them to believe the suspect had driven the vehicle through it, the lieutenant said.
Further investigation determined that Guzman had been reported missing shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, after she apparently stopped a vehicle she was driving at Crossroads Parkway, got out and walked away.
"She apparently was depressed," De Mond told Patch.
Her mother reported her missing, the lieutenant said.
