ONTARIO – The city of Ontario is one of two finalists for a $35 million state grant for its downtown revitalization.
The money, through California’s cap-and-trade program, would boost the city’s efforts to transform its downtown area into a modern urban village with high-quality multimodal transportation, affordable housing, “urban greening,” solar energy, a small business incubator and workforce training.
In August, the Ontario City Council approved a resolution to go after the funding. This grant money, under the Transformative Climate Communities Program, is designed to develop green infrastructure in disadvantaged communities.
