• Calif. firefighters, wildlife wardens cut into cistern to rescue bear, 2 cubs (firerescue1.com) — A mother bear and two cubs were dramatically rescued from a cistern near Claremont Wilderness Park's 5‑Mile Loop Trail after hikers heard their cries and called authorities. More than 40 firefighters and wildlife wardens cut into the tank, drained the water, and guided the bears out safely, then secured the structure to prevent future animal entrapments.
