Hundreds Of Cats Seized By Police From SoCal Properties: Authorities (patch.com) — Claremont residents are being drawn into a disturbing regional animal-cruelty investigation after authorities seized hundreds of cats and several dogs from properties linked to a Pomona-based rescue operating in Upland and Claremont. Many animals were reportedly sick or malnourished, some were found dead, and local shelters and the Inland Valley Humane Society are now caring for survivors while police pursue possible criminal charges.
   

2. Claremont unveils monument honoring 100 years of Route 66 (sgvtribune.com) — Claremont has installed a new illuminated Route 66 monument at Foothill and Indian Hill, celebrating the Mother Road's 100th anniversary right in the heart of town. City leaders say the sign honors Claremont's historic connection to Route 66 while welcoming residents and visitors as part of a nationwide centennial art project.
   

3. Deputies shoot, kill suspected thief armed with large kitchen knife at Claremont gas station (abc7.com) — A man armed with a large kitchen knife was shot and killed Monday morning by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies during a theft investigation at a Chevron station on South Indian Hill Boulevard in Claremont. Deputies say the suspect charged them with the knife before they opened fire; no deputies were injured, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers.
   

4. CA: Montclair sues over A Line light rail cancellation (masstransitmag.com) — Montclair is suing San Bernardino County's transportation authority for canceling funding to extend LA Metro's A Line from Claremont to Montclair, a move the city says violates Measure I and harms a largely Latino community. While the Montclair segment is stalled, a construction contract is in place to extend the line from Pomona to a future Claremont station by 2031, promising new rail access for local commuters.
   

5. Flag football Recap: Tough Loss for Claremont (maxpreps.com) — Claremont's flag football Wolfpack dropped to 1-7 after a tough 40-0 road loss to Bonita, which is ranked far higher statewide. The team quickly turns around to face in-conference rival Ayala at 6:45 p.m. tonight, giving local fans another chance to support the struggling squad.
