Peppertree Shopping Center Renovation Takes Shape
Completion of phase one of the facelift has enabled most of the construction fences to be taken down this week and the main parking lot to reopen.
The Peppertree Shopping Center renovation continues to make progress.
The first phase of the project is complete, Claremont City Manager Tony Ramos wrote on the city's website. The parking lot and landscaping are done, which allowed for the removal of most of the construction fences this week.
Improvements to facades and signage are coming next, he added.
Construction on the $2 million facelift began in February. On Feb. 12, Claremont issued grading and building permits for the remodel, which includes improvements in lighting, landscaping, and the parking areas, according to the city’s website.
The storefront facades are being designed by Wheeler & Wheeler Architects, a Claremont firm.
Paul Wheeler said in February that plans to revamp the shopping center began more than four years ago. In late 2012, an old warehouse building that partially blocked the view of Peppertree Square was torn down, he said.
