Inland Empire Group to Host First Ever Sustainability Festival

The Redlands Sustainability Network is preparing to host the first ever Sustainability Festival at the University of Redlands, which will feature everyone from musical acts to lectures by experts on environmental issues.

The event is Saturday and it is free and open to the public. It might be a be far east for Claremonters, but the cities share a vision of a sustainable city. And the event features a number of speakers including a representative from the Claremont Home Energy Retrofit Project, the American Lung Association and the Better World Group Inc.

The day's activities include yoga instruction, garden tours, poetry readings and film screenings.

The entire event kicks off at the Lewis Hall Amphitheater at 11 a.m. with opening remarks from Phil Courtney and Roger Bell, both members of the Redlands Sustainability Network.

The city and its residents are very active in the sustainability movement fighting city projects that could impact their quality of life. The event is meant to become an annual event, organizers said.
