Scripps College held its 83rd Commencement exercises May 18.
Graduating seniors marched from Denison Library and down onto the Elm Tree Lawn. Grads received diplomas from President Lori-Bettison Varga. Entrepreneur and alumna Ruth Markowitz Owades from the class of 1966 and senior class speaker Roshni Kakaiya spoke during the ceremony, college officials said.
A post-graduation dinner dance on Alumnae Field followed the ceremony, officials said. Scripps College was founded in 1926 by Ellen Browning Scripps, a philanthropist and influential figure in the worlds of education, publishing, and women’s rights, according to a bio by the college.
