1. Data centers face backlash across California as residents demand more transparency around their impacts (kvcrnews.org) — Coachella residents just pushed city leaders to pause plans for six massive data centers, forcing a 45-day moratorium and cancellation of a deal with developer Stronghold Power Systems. As communities statewide question data centers’ water and energy use, Coachella neighbors are demanding transparency and considering a permanent ban, arguing the valley’s strained water supply can’t quietly absorb another big industrial user.
