1 Dead, 1 Injured In Shooting On Highway 4 In Concord: CHP
Westbound SR-4 was shut down for several hours Saturday night as the car-to-car freeway shooting was investigated.
CONCORD, CA — One person was killed and another person was injured in a freeway shooting over the weekend in Concord.
Officers responded at 6:35 p.m. Saturday to westbound State Highway 4, just east of Port Chicago Highway in Concord, where one victim was dead from gunshot wounds and another victim was suffering moderate injuries from gunshot wounds, according to the California Highway Patrol's Contra Costa Area Office.
The victims were in a black Toyota Camry and the unknown suspect vehicle was already gone, the CHP said.

Because of the shooting, the victim vehicle crashed into a metal guardrail at the top of the Port Chicago offramp, the CHP said.
As the fatal shooting was investigated, all westbound lanes of SR-4 were shut down near Willow Pass Road for several hours Saturday night.

Detectives assigned to the CHP's Golden Gate Division Special Investigations Unit were actively investigating the shooting and requesting help from the public to gather details surrounding the incident, the CHP said.
