1 Displaced In Contra Costa County Fire

The fire happened in the 2000 block of Palo Verde Way.

ANTIOCH, CA -- At least one resident was displaced Tuesday night during a house fire in Antioch, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

It was initially reported as a backyard on fire in the 2000 block of Palo Verde Way at 8:57 p.m., according to Fire Marshal Robert Marshall.

When crews arrived, they found the fire had extended to the house and there was a second, neighboring structure threatened.

"But it looks like we were able to stop the fire from traveling to the neighbor's house," Marshall said.

It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, and the American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist anyone displaced as a result of the fire.
