Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- Investigators with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office say they have solved a case from 25 years ago involving the killing of a waitress at a Crockett restaurant. Danny Lamont Hamilton, 51, is charged with murder and related offenses in the killing of Priscilla Lewis, a 21-year-old Vallejo woman who was working at the Four Corners restaurant on Second Avenue in Crockett on Sept. 24, 1996. Last year, detectives submitted additional information to a crime lab for testing and a DNA match came back for Hamilton. He is currently in state prison in Southern California and was charged Wednesday in the killing. (Claycord.com)
- Last month's smash and grab robbery at Nordstrom's in Walnut Creek has pushed five Contra Costa mayors to call on District Attorney Diana Becton for stronger leadership. The mayors of Concord, Clayton, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and Martinez say they are worried about organized retail theft and concerned with the lack of consequences for the perpetrators. - Delaney Tang was sentenced to 60 months in prison for solicitation of child pornography and conspiracy to commit cyberstalking in connection with a sexual extortion scheme, announced Acting United States Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds and Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Tatum King. The plea agreement describes how Tang used Instagram to harass, threaten, and successfully extort a 12-year-old victim into sending him nude photos and videos of herself. Tang received assistance executing the scheme from co-defendant Vincenz Sison, 21, of Concord. Sison attempted to convince the victim to comply with Tang's extortion requests. Sison pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit cyberstalking on April 28, 2021. Sison's sentencing is scheduled for February 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. (Contra Costa Herald)
- Looks like somebody was in a big hurry to get their prescription filled. A car drove through the front of the CVS in Martinez on Thursday. No serious injuries were reported. (News 24/680)
- On Wednesday, Kristina Lawson, who is president of the Medical Board of California, released a statement saying she was confronted by an anti-vaccine group in a Walnut Creek Parking garage. Lawson is an attorney, former mayor of the City of Walnut creek and president of the Medical Board of California. You can read her official statement here. (East County Today)
