30 Concord Residents Displaced After Apt. Bldg. Fire

BREAKING: Due to smoke and water damage, eight units were evacuated.

CONCORD, CA - Dozens of people have been displaced from their residences after a fire ravaged one apartment and then smoke and water damaged other apartments.

The Concord Police Department and the Fire Department were dispatched to Lakeside Apartments, located at 1314 Lani Kai Dr., due to an apartment fire at about 6 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 4. When officers arrived one unit was found to be fully engulfed by flames.

Nearby residents were evacuated from their units once police arrived, and the Fire Department arrived, the blaze was extinguished. Fire damage was contained to two units; however, due to smoke and water damage eight units at the low income housing complex were evacuated in total.

This resulted in the displacement of 30 residents, 20 adults and 10 children. According to police, the Red Cross coordinated housing and clothing needs for the families.

No major injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is undetermined, but under investigation, police officials said.
