Missing Alzheimer's Patient Found Safe, Antioch Police Say
Police provided photos of the 78-year-old man and his car, and asked the public to keep an eye out for him.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — UPDATED 6 p.m., Oct. 3, 2019: An Alzheimer's patient who was reported missing earlier this week from Antioch has been found and is safe, officials with the Antioch Police Department said Thursday. Police thanked members of the community for their assistance in the search for 78-year-old Clarence Smith.
ORIGINAL POST: Police in Antioch are asking for the public's help in finding a 78-year-old man with Alzheimer's disease and dementia who went missing Tuesday morning and is thought to be at risk.
According to the Antioch Police Department, a California Highway Patrol Silver Alert has also been issued for Clarence Smith, who is described as a black man with blue eyes standing 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds.

He was last seen around 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the 300 block of L Street in Antioch. At the time, he was wearing black pants and a gray sweater, police said.
Investigators are asking the public to keep an eye out for Smith's car, which is also missing. It's described as a silver 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with license plate No. 4ZKH349.

Police said county surveillance cameras recorded Smith's SUV in the area of Stone Valley Road and Danville Boulevard in the city of Alamo at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Anyone with information about Smith's whereabouts or his car is asked to immediately call 911 or the Antioch Police Department's non-emergency line at 925-778-2441.
