Today's riddle: What gets wetter & wetter as it dries? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
• Concord demo shows new technology that fights fires with sound (nbcbayarea.com) — A new NASA-inspired fire suppression system using low-frequency sound waves was demonstrated in Concord this week with Contra Costa County Fire officials, showing how it can extinguish flames without water or foam. The Sonic Fire Tech system can be ducted like sprinklers, potentially protecting homes while conserving water and limiting damage, and the company is touring to get more departments involved in testing.
• The surveillance bombardment: Lafayette teen arrested in Bay Area Flock camera vandalism spree (eastbaytimes.com) — Flock license-plate cameras in several Bay Area cities, including Concord, were repeatedly vandalized earlier this year with paint, BB guns, and other damage. Police now suspect an 18-year-old Lafayette man, arrested in Moraga, in a wider spree that has intensified debate over the controversial surveillance network’s reach and privacy implications.
• California State Parks Recommends $42.6M in Grants for Land and Water Conservation Funds (ca.gov) — Concord is in line for a $1 million state grant to renovate the 2,629-acre Thurgood Marshall Regional Park, part of a $42.6 million package for 18 park projects statewide. The funding, still pending federal approval, aims to expand outdoor access, especially in underserved communities, by improving parks, trails, and recreation facilities across California.
