Morning, people of Concord! It's me again, Jeri Karges, your host of the Concord Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and nice. High: 71 Low: 51.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday charged Antioch City Councilmember Tamisha Torres-Walker with interfering with law enforcement when they were called to her home on a report of shots fired last month. Police reported finding seven shell casings at the scene. The council member said Wednesday, it was the first she had heard of the charge. "It's news to me. It's not surprising. This Police Department has been harassing me since I was sworn into office." She said. She denied that anyone fired any shots at her home on Oct. 3 or that any shell casings were found on her property. (Claycord.com)
  2. A long standing issue between the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and Clayton Valley Charter concerns the amount MDUSD is to receive as annual reimbursement from CVCHS for the use of the District-owned campus on Alberta Way in Concord. The charter school got a favorable ruling Oct. 1 from the California First District Court of Appeals concerning a lawsuit o the issue pitting district vs. charter school. MDUSD announced this week that it will appeal that ruling to the California Supreme Court. (Pioneer Publishers)
  3. Five local schools claimed league championships as fall high school sports moved into post-season competition. Clayton Valley Charter won the EBAL Mountain Division football title while its unbeaten girls tennis team won the DAL Valley Division. De La Salle and Northgate boys rolled to EBAL and DAL Valley water polo crowns, respectively. Carondelet won the EBAL girls golf tournament and College Park girls team took DAL Valley water polo and golf titles. (Pioneer Publishers)
  4. The approval of the final map for the Clayton Road Townhomes project, which includes seventy three-story townhomes on 3.87 acres at 3512 Clayton Road, will be discussed on Tuesday by the Concord City Council. If the final map is in substantial compliance with the map already authorized by the city, the council cannot reject the project. (Concord News Journal)
  5. The Antioch Chamber of Commerce recently started a program to give back to Antioch businesses called "The Chamber Cares." The program allows the Chamber CEO Sean Wright to visit Antioch businesses that have recently been vandalized or had other hardships arise and help with a check for $500. Over the last few weeks, the Chamber has reached out to help locally owned and operated businesses Cocina Medina and Grocery Outlet. (East County Today)
