Morning, neighbors! Jeri Karges here with the latest Concord Daily.

Happy Veteran's Day!

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 71 Low: 51.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. The Contra Costa Board Of Supervisors has endorsed a tentative district map. Political districts get re-drawn every ten years, after the Census results are released. The goal is to create districts as equal in population as possible, while meeting all federal and state legal guidelines. The new Contra Costa County supervisorial district map will likely move Diablo, Blackhawk and the Camino Tassajara area from District 3 Supervisor Diane Burgis' purview to that of District 2 Supervisor Candace Andersen. The biggest gain was in Burgis' District 3, with an additional 36,560 residents, an area covering much of Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood, and unincorporated East County. (Claycord.com)
  2. The City of Clayton wants to hear resident's perspectives on housing needs and challenges in the community. It has published a survey to collect resident inputs. Take the survey through December 10 to weigh in on the future of housing in Clayton. Your ideas could shape Clayton for generations to come, as the City prepares a plan to identify sites that could accommodate new housing at all income levels over the next eight years. This plan is known as the Housing Element. It is a required part of the City's General Plan. Click here to take the survey: https://bit.ly/ClaytonHousingSurvey (Pioneer Publishers)
  3. Martinez resident Jeff Carpoff was sentenced for his role in a billion-dollar Ponzi scheme operated out of his Benicia business called DC Solar. Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert called it the biggest criminal fraud scheme in the history of the Eastern District of California. Carpoff pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Tuesday, U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez sentenced him to 30 years in prison. Several others have also been accused in the scheme. The conspirators allegedly carried out an accounting and lease revenue fraud using Ponzi-like circular payments. (News 24/680)
  4. Interim City Manager Joshua McMurray has been selected as the permanent City Manager for the City of Oakley. McMurray has been acting as the City's interim City Manager since May and has worked for the City of Oakley since 2008. (East County Today)
  5. On Tuesday, the Antioch Police Department filed misdemeanor charges against Antioch City Councilwoman Tamisha Torres-Walker with the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office. The charges stem from her role in a shooting incident in front of her home last month. Walker has been charged with one count of resist, obstruct, delay of a Peace Officer or EMT.
