Boy, 13, Stabbed In Concord When He Tells Attacker He Is Not Gang Member, Police Say

The child is in stable condition after the Wednesday night attack.

On January 7 at about 10 PM, Concord officers responded to the area of Grant St. near Knoll Dr. regarding the report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, Officers located a 13- year-old male juvenile victim on the ground.

The victim had sustained several stab wounds to his body, and emergency medical aid was given.

He was later transported to a local hospital for treatment, and is currently listed in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation established that the victim and a friend were walking on Grant Street when a vehicle pulled in front of them. Two male occupants exited the vehicle, approached the victim and asked him if he was in a gang. When he replied that he wasn’t, one of the suspects discharged a handgun toward the victim several times.

No one was struck by gunfire. One of the suspects then attacked the victim, stabbing him several times in the torso. The suspects then fled in their vehicle.

CPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) Detectives have taken over the investigation, and are looking into the possibility that this incident may be related to other recent aggravated assaults.
